For most of you that are moving to Windows Vista from Windows XP will notice that the Run command is not where it used to be, don’t panic, it’s still there. I’m going to tell you how to access the run command in a moment first I think I understand why this has been moved out of the way, see Microsoft think that the average Home user is not going to use such a function or even know what its for.
Lets be honest here, that is correct for the most part however with it being right there on the start menu for so long on Windows XP alot of people have grown used to seeing it and even using it. I use the Run function for quite alot of things I tend to use it more then most because I find it easier then using the start menu and following the paths to programs.
There are a few ways that you can gain access to Run on Windows Vista, I’m going to show you the two quickest ways to do so below:
1. If your keyboard has a Windows key then this is your best and fastest option.
Hold down the Windows key and press the letter ‘R’.
This will instantly bring up the Run Command dialog box ready for you to enter your commands.
2. This is more so for the people that don’t have a Windows key on there keyboard.
Click on Start (Bottom left, windows logo).
Click All Programs.
Click Accessories.
Click Run.
And bam, there is your Run Dialog box. It’s only 4 clicks more then number 1 but still if you have a Windows key I would really suggest you learn to use the key shortcut.
I hope this has helped you find the Run function and let you feeling a little more comfortable using Vista as your Operating system.
