How to backup Firefox Manually

Why is important to backup Firefox? well that's a simple question really you have a lot of information stored in your Firefox profile like your bookmarks, settings you may have changed, and usernames/passwords. this is why it is very important to backup Firefox before you jump into making any changes just in case the worst happens, and it can! So be sure to follow the instructions in this tutorial before you attempt any of the tweaking Firefox tutorials.

Please note: Before attempting this tutorial you need to make sure you are able to view "Hidden and System files" If you cannot or your unsure then go to

Step One

Click on 'Start' and then select 'Run'

Step Two

Copy and Paste the following into the Run Command box
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
Once you have copied the above into the Run Command box Click 'OK'

Step Three

Now you should see something like the picture below
Please note: Your file will have a different name to mine, that's because this file is made up of random numbers the main thing to remember is that any folders you see in the window need copying!

Step Four

Please note: Before you copy the folder, make sure Firefox is NOT running.
Now you need to copy the folder/s you see to a safe place. Lets start by highlighting the folder/s you see.
To highlight 'Left Click the mouse in the white space and keeping your left mouse button held down drag the cursor over the folder/s

Step Five

Now Right Click Once over the highlighted Folder/s and select Copy

Step Six

Close the window

Step Seven

Now you should be back to your desktop!
Right Click in an empty area of your desktop and select 'paste'

Optional Steps

Now that you have the folder on your desktop (as shown below)
You might want to move it to a more secure place for example a CD/DVD or a USB flash drive, Where you put the folder/s is your decision as long as its safe and you can find it easily if needed

Well Done!

You have now Backed Up your Firefox Profile/s so if you encounter an error while tweaking or changing your Firefox Settings you are now able to restore all your settings, Happy Tweaking!
