Disable Messenger Popups aka Grey popups
Geting grey pop up boxes that stay on top of all other windows from messenger service! I used to, then I found out that it was a simple service that I could disable and now longer have to battle with these very annoying messenger popups. If you are not sure what Messenger Service popups are look at the image below.
Please Note: Messenger Service - Is NOTHING to do with MSN Messenger or Windows Live Messenger, and disabling this service will not affect MSN in anyway (Just thought that I should point that out).
Step One
Click on Start and Select Run
Or
Hold down the Windows Key and press 'R'
Step Two
Type services.msc into the Run Command box and click ok.
Step Three
A Window called 'Services' has now opened.
Scroll Down untill you Find Messenger.
Step Four
Right Click Messenger and select properties.
Step Five
Click 'Stop' to stop this service.
If running, if not move on to next step.
Step Six
Once you have clicked stop you will see the following as windows as the service stops.
Step Seven
Change Startup type to Disabled.
Step Eight
Click Apply and then Ok.
Step Nine
Close Services window
Finished!
Now you will no longer receive any messenger service popups on your computer if you how ever are still receiving other popups you should check your computer for spyware/viruses etc and better still use a better browser while browsing the Internet (Get Firefox). This will help keep such things as spyware to a minimum.
